i went for a job, 6 months ago and did not get it, however the feedback from the iterviewer was fairly positive, she did say i did well, could not really fault any part of the interview, the only reason she could think of was that i would not fit into that team{hmm}- health.

Any way, fast forward now, another same job has come up and i have already applied, what can i do to sell myself even better this time, and how is one's general chances after not being sucessful first time.

also, after the ist time she did say she will let me know if anything came up, she will be contact as she had already interviewed me etc, but did not hear anything, i know every job has to be advertised-nhs

Will stop rambling now.

if you interviewed well and could do the job, the "you won't fit in" doesn't ring quite true
however, if this was the case and this team is still in place then nothing has changed for you IYSWIM
would you be reporting to the person interviewing you?

pocoyo2 · 01/10/2007 14:59

yeah, more than likely, she is team lead

Don't worry too much about her not letting you know when something comes up. People say that often with every good intention but very rare to actually do that, remembering all the candidates who applied for things months ago etc and who might be good for another job is very tricky, as well as there being Data Protection issues around keeping applications for long periods of time anyway.

'You won't fit in' is not good or helpful feedback. It may be that she was happy with your performance, but just preferred someone else at that time, there was not much to choose between you, nothing she could criticise you on but someone had to be successful.

I think going for the same job again is good, it shows you have tenacity, enthusiasm and determination to succeed, all positives.

Use the opportunity to show these things and also enhance your application from last time by highlighting the skills/experiences/knowledge you have improved on or developed since then, anything you have learned etc, think about what in the last 6 months will add to what you can bring to the job.
