Employment termination due to organisational change (entitled to benefits?)

Ok, so the team I currently work on is being closed due to lack of funding/organisational change.
Staff on the team will be offered redeployment but this could be anywhere within a 25 mile radius.
Being a single parent with no childcare help and without my own transport this is potentially unsuitable for me. I can't really be flexible unless something fits around my existing commitments or is in a place I can actually reach.
The team will all have their name put on a list for job alerts and would be expected to apply for anything suitable within the organisation.
If I can't find something suitable within the deadline before the team closes down, and end up being "terminated", what would be my rights regarding unemployment benefits?
I currently received working tax credit and child tax credit.

You might be entitled to new style jsa or uc but uc would replace your tax credits if you claim it so get advice from help to claim citizens advice.or look on their website. I think they have a web chat too

I think the rules in this situation is the new position should be a suitable alternative - if a new roles is a significant distance away I am not sure this is a reasonable offer? Check this with acas.

Does your contract mention anything about being location specific or mobile? Check this.

Are you in consultation about the changes? Can you raise these questions with HR.

I hope you are in a union and can get some advice. Potentially they could be discriminating indirectly because as a female with child care issues it could be deemed unreasonable to expect you to travel so far away. Check your contract and see if it says that you can be expected to work at any of their sites. If they cannot find you a suitable alternative (that fits in with your present care needs) then they could make you redundant. As a Workplace Rep I would be advising that this could be a case for a Tribunal. Join a union if you aren’t in one.
