Any good examples of 'innovation' for an interview?

Just that really. It's senior-ish. (Public sector, 40k+) I've got loads of good examples of other stuff up my sleeve but this is one I always struggle with...nothing ever really feels terrible innovative to me.

Would anyone like to share an idea of any good answers they've given, or generally types of things that sound good?

Thanks

IME it doesn't really matter what it is, as long as you can evidence it -

Problem - Solution - Result

Thanks - I’m struggling with the ‘it’ though! Anyone got examples of what ‘it’ might look like? What is a good example of innovation?!

Look at any new ways of working you've introduced - could be new ways of reporting, measuring targets, training, getting feedback. It could be a new way of structuring teams in your department. It might be a new way of interacting with your customer (internal or external). It might be use of new technology or systems. A new regular meeting you've introduced, new HR process, new document etc.

As long as you can explain it as Arietty suggested and talk about how you measured its success/benefits, any lessons learned etc. it doesn't have to be anything revolutionary, just a change you've led.

What’s the role/sector.

Innovation is usually about efficiency.

Examples I would use would be about process improvement that has reduced touch points for the people doing the process.

Creation of new reports/analysis methods to conduct trend analysis and identify improvements that increase customer satisfaction or lower risk for the organisation.

Or technology utilised such as PowerApps/PowerBI/Flow in Office 365 being used to automate activities and provide audit logs of what has been done by who, without adding cost to the business.

Or finding methods of improving communication amongst teams that supports enhanced sharing of knowledge and identification of duplication/shared activities to enhance matrix working. Particularly applicable at the moment with increased home working. It may be something as simple as a 10 min call with Senior team stakeholders twice a week to share priorities, challenges and focus areas for the next few days.
