Progression Advice MHN/CPN or RN/DN?

Hi, looking for a bit of advice.

I was going to be starting MSc in Mental Health Nursing in Sept. Career changed, have personal family experience/education in mh, loads of voluntary experience. Thought my plan would be study 2 years, qualify, few years on wards, then consider working in community or multidisciplinary team, maybe older people's mh. Something like that.

But wanted more experience a) for pre-registration hours, and b) in medically unwell patients.

Been working as HCA on community inpatient ward. Should really be rehab, but with covid, much closer to acute ward, Inc EoL, Covid + pts, lots of delirium, acute dementia etc.

Absolutely love the work. Happy doing the stuff which is more MH/behavioural, as expected. But also adult nursing. Especially taken with End of Life, supporting patient, and families. (done this a few times personally)

Had to withdraw from uni place anyway (COVID cocked up all my childcare). Now thinking adult nursing makes more sense.

Anyone got advice? Followed a career path that combines both?

I have to do a masters as I've already got degrees.

I can stay at my current trust as an hca for as long as I like. Plenty of bank opportunities, could probably work & study a bit. Elderly parents, 3 kids, husband & a life to fit in too though!

Thanks in advance.
