A question for those who work in retail?

When (hopefully! ) the world has returned back to normal, my daughter will be looking for a full time job. She wants to work somehwre like super drug, boots or a clothing store for eg. Something like that. I have never worked in retail before so am useless with giving advice. Could I ask if you work in retail at all full time, if you could send an example week of what your hours/days are like? We're not quite sure how the hours and days work etc.
And if you have any advice at all? Thank you so much x

Ft will be 5 days a week, including weekend and bh on a rota. Physically it can be quite demanding, lots of standing, and some restrictions on appearance with dress code or uniform. Pay tends to be low.

I had a set Wednesday to Sunday 5 hour shifts each day in one shop. It was hard sometimes - other places I worked, you would only get a 30 minute break in a 12 hour shift - being on your feet all day or only being 'allowed' to go to the toilet on a break.

Working in retail is stressful and soul destroying plus often anti-social with late night and weekend shifts.
If she hasn't done it before then would recommend trying it part time first.

It's always a weekend and days off in the week . If the shop is open 9-5 they are the hours but if it's open til 9 pm then she will work shifts across those hours . Apply online to the actual stores website and they do online applications mostly .

My niece works in retail, initially she got a contact for a minimum of 12hrs a week, no set days. She usually got 20-ish hours. Eventually, over 4 years, when she showed she was reliable (which means being available whenever they need you, sometimes at short notice to cover absence) her contract increased to a minimum of 34hrs a week. Not all retailers do this though.
