Stillbirth and Maternity leave

Trying to be practical atm...

I had a stillbirth last week at 26+4. I believe I'm still entitled to take the full years maternity leave (whether I do or not is another issue which I can decide at a later date).

What evidence do I need to provide for my employer. I had already submitted my letter informing them of my pregnancy and the date I wished to start my maternity leave - along with my MAT-B1 form. Will they require anything else now?

Maybe something from your midwife? Letter?

Sorry posted too quickly.

I am sorry for your loss Thanks

Your mat leave should have started from the date of your stillbirth. Maybe email your manager to make them sort out the necessaries with HR and then leave them to it. They shouldn’t need anything else until you receive the stillbirth certificate from the registrar. Really sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry Flowers Your employer may request proof. Details if how to register and obtain the necessary certificate are here

So sorry for you loss Thanks
I lost my daughter at birth in 2017 and was entitled to take my full maternity leave as you will be too ( I went back to work after about 6 months) you don't need to provide any more information to work, assuming they know you've had your baby your maternity leave will start on the day you gave birth. Please don't worry about work at this difficult time you have enough to think about.
Thanks

Thank you everyone. @squee123 - that's really helpful. Thank you.

OP, you are entitled to your full maternity leave. I lost my first baby around the same time as you in 2017. I didn't have to provide any evidence to work, in fact I don't remember doing much, my colleagues and DP sorted everything for me.

Work isn't something you need to be worrying about right now. Assuming that they know about your baby, you can just take maternity leave from the day your baby was born, regardless of what your MAT-B1 stated as that no longer applies.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. Please take care of yourself and accept help if you want or need it. Thanks

As long as you have submitted your Mat B1 you are entitlrd to your full mat leave

I took mine back when it was a lot shorter
