Redundant, Pregnant now Covid.

Hi everyone

I was made redundant from a job I absolutely loved in Dec 2019. I found out I was pregnant with my first child in mid Jan, but pursued finding a new job. I was offered a job at the end of Feb, which I was due to start at the end of March but due to Covid that offer was rescinded. I now find myself unemployed and pregnant. Because of the pregnancy I can't get a temp job in Tesco's or Sainsbury's (for example) and the job market seems to have completely dried up due to the virus as majority of employers have put employment on hold. I'm at an absolute loss about what to do. I'm worried that by the time this all blows over I'll be too far gone in my pregnancy and nobody will want to hire me. I'd really appreciate some advice from other people just so I can get some alternative perspectives about what I could potentially do.

Get a sewing machine, learn to sew facemasks and set up a shop on Etsy. I am serious, I was thinking about doing that too as more and more countries mandate use of face masks in public.

@lonelysam - how do you dispatch them? I guess the OP wouldn't want to go to a post office daily (assuming they are even open). Do you have couriers collect?

Thanks for the suggestion @lonelySam but I don't think this one is for me. I'm not very crafty first of all, I also feel like there's a lot of up front expenses (sewing machine, fabric, elastic bands, envelopes etc) which I can't cover. Plus the issue of shipping like @DianaT1969 said..

@Diana I am not in the UK, we are allowed to go out and postal services work (as do couriers and many other services). I guess you could order courier collection from home and leave them outside the door?

In some respects, the current situation goes in your favour if you can secure a job now through remote interview working from home. At least you wouldn't have to commute and could work right up til the birth. It depends what sector you are in. Are you looking for general office work, or something specialised?
