Annual leave

If I was a cleaner that was contracted out to different sites and the director of one of those sites said Wednesday are shut tomorrow don't need to come in'
Would the company I worked for be able to make me take unpaid leave or annual leave? Or would it be a case of being told not to work despite being able to and the company will still be paid as usual?

Your company should furlough you. They may ask you to take some leave first.

I would expect to get paid in that situation. Or possibly to make up the hours elsewhere if possible.

Furlough wouldn't apply as there's still work, just not in that location.

Thanks. Its only for tomorrow and the boss on site meant it as a nice gesture. He's still paying the cleaning company but now my evening off (he's closing the whole business for the day) is coming out of my own pocket despite my company not having to find cover etc.
At Christmas he gave everyone a day off and that was fine, they didn't comment at all.
It's not a big deal usually but they haven't been too good to us during this Coronavirus thing and I'm just wary of putting myself on the line for a company that aren't going to at least be fair.
