Can anyone offer any advice or point me in the right direction for writing a notice letter. I've never written one before and I'm not sure what I should be writing.

Hi mozzybear
Short and sweet is the key. Presumably you will have a chat with your boss when you hand it in anyway?

'Dear [name of boss]

I am writing to inform you that I have decided to leave employment with [name of company], as I [have been offered a job elsewhere/whatever reason]. Please take this as my [month/3 months/whatever] notice, my last day of employment will be [date].
I understand I have [number] days holiday entitlement outstanding, I would like to [take these on [date/s]/receive payment for them in my final salary payment].
I would appreciate written confirmation of my last date of employment and the amount of my final salary payment.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support during my time at [company] and wish you and [company] all the best in the future.

Kind regards

mozzybear

Or something like that. Only put the last bit if you want to obviously, depends on circumstances!

I'm leaving because I'm unhappy with conditions but I want to leave on a good note as I'll be in frequent communication with them in my new job and I do get on with my line manager. The letter is fantastic fbb. I usually end up waffling in such situations Thanks ever so xx

agree with FBB - keep it short and sweet.
