SAHM for 5 years returning to work full time/term time

Hi All

I'm new to the group and I'm looking for support advice please.

I've been a stay st home Mum for just under 5 years now. I have 3 children, 15, 9 and 4. My hubby works full-time and any overtime to help us out. Finances are still tight so I'm now looking to return to work. I was offered an Exec Asst role back in October but had to decline due to childcare problems.....some hours were starting around teatime which with a family weren't great. So, since then I've applied for a Cattery assistant and midday supervisor which didn't get - over qualified. I also applied for an evening term time job which I got an interview for but had to withdraw again due to start times/childcare. I applied for an Admin role within a school met all essential criteria but as I haven't worked within a school didn't get an interview. So, I'm now considering applying for a full time term time plus 3 weeks working in the holidays...Office Manager/PA role. I have a dog but the job is only around the corner so could pop home at lunch or get a dog walker? My little girl has been quite poorly picking up everything since starting school last September but I'm hoping we're on an upward slope. I also have endometriosis and adenomyosis but it is medically controlled at the moment. If I were to get the job my children would have to go to after school club 3 days a week with my father & hubby doing school pick up once each per week. My parents could help maybe 2 weeks when I have to work in the holidays, but both still work themselves. My hubby and childcare would share the other week.

So, just wondering....

  1. Have any of you SAHM's gone back full time after a career break and if so how did you manage?
  1. What do you do when your child is ill?
  1. Is it better to work full time term time or part time throughout the year, taking into account childcare costs etc?

Many thanks.

X
