Wed-Fri job share & annual leave entitlement

I have an interview for a job share post, Weds to Fri (22.5 hrs pw). My job share counterpart, already in post works Mon to Weds. The annual leave entitlement is 33 days pa inc 8 public holidays. Can someone cleverer than me confirm that for my part time hours that equates to 15 days annual leave pa inc public holidays and am I worse or better off than my job share counterpart because there are fewer public holidays Weds to Fri? Sorry to be a dimwit but my head hurts!!

I work Tuesday- Friday. When a bank holiday falls on a Monday (as they often do!), I usually take the Tuesday off instead. Otherwise I wouldn’t be getting bank holidays. However, as I only work 80% of a full time job, I only get 80% of the bank holidays, so 6.5 days.

You should be better off as there are 4 fixed bank hols on Mondays (except this yr), so you get a pro-rota. So 8 bank hols, you get 60% = 4.8, even if every other bank holiday falls Wednesday-Friday in a normal year you are still 0.8 up and more if any fall on a Tuesday

If the annual allowance is 33 days per annum including public holidays, then your entitlement is 20 days (33 x 3/5). If a public holiday falls on a day you are working, and the business closes, then you will need to take one of the 20 days.

You get the same you just get more choice when you take yours. For the bank holidays that you would usually work like Good Friday you will have to use up a bit of your leave allowance to turn the 4.8 hours Bank Holiday you get into a full day if that makes sense.

@nigellaawesome do i get 20 days even though I only work 22.5 hours per week over three days (not full days)?

Go on Gov. UK /holiday entitlement. Really useful holiday entitlement calculator. You just put in your hours /days /holiday year and gives you the amount.

Wed to fri better a/l wise as the Mondays can eat into a/l allowance. But can be harder workwise.

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 10/03/2020 21:11

I think the gov uk calculator is based on statutory minimum entitlement not 33 pa inc public holidays? It says I'm only entitled to 126 hrs which seems a bit low...

That's still 15/16 days which is 5 of your weeks which seems about right?

Where do you get 15 days from OP?

As has been confirmed above, you get 3/5 full time entitlement, so if someone working 5 days a week gets 33 included bank holidays, you get 19.8 days which would be rounded up to 20.

If you work the same number of hours each day you are at work, you can keep your entitlement in days as it’s easier. If some days you work more hours than others, you’ll need to do your entitlement in hours instead. Your entitlement in hours will be 6.6 x 22.5= 148.5 hours.
