Redundancy and maternity leave

I'm six months pregnant, work in the NHS. My husband has just been told he's at risk of redundancy, we should know in the next week (really not helping my stress levels). This is our first child, I suffer from a medical condition which is likely to flare up after birth, then will have to start medication, which will take at least three months to get under control, after the consultant appointment comes through, so going back to work before a year isn't something I can't plan on, as I don't know if I'm able to work until medicated correctly.

His salary anyway is barely enough for us to survive on, but with my mat pay we would have coped. My salary alone is enough normally to live, but on mat pay I won't have enough.

What support is there for this situation as I'm really stressed about it. He's only been there two years, we have no savings as we just spent them getting a bathroom and kitchen fitted in preparation for baby, and own our house with a mortgage. He will be looking for a new job as soon as we know.

Any advice is gratefully received

Is there any chance that redundancy will come with a payout? If not best speak to your local job centre about what Universal credits you'll be entitled to and he should start looking for a new job ASAP even before the decision just to be safe.

I don't believe your entitled to any help towards your mortgage but it's worth speaking to your provider to see about a payment break while you get back on your feet. Did you get any kind of insurance I know our policy comes with life, critical illness and loss of earnings coverage

As far as I can tell no stat entitlement as its just under two years, and nothing was mentioned in the meeting last week about pay.

We only have life insurance and critical illness cover.

I'm not sure how UC would work as normal salary is 35k for me, I'll have to contact the job centre and try them. Thank you
