Job acceptance etiquette

Just hoping for a bit of advice regarding my current position.
I am 10 months into an admin apprenticeship within the NHS. I qualify in May.
Whilst doing the apprenticeship I have been based in one particular area of the NHS and mostly the one team.

There are no positions available at this office or the other 3 team offices. There is however a floating admin position which covers the 4 offices when the admin is off sick or on leave.

Now I have to be honest, I am not keen on the floating position. I'm a bit of a home bod and I like to have a permanent base/team etc. I have done some cover for these offices already (even though I'm not meant to) and the teams are fine and I can do the job it's just a bit of an arse. Plus although I have been assured that it will only be covering local offices, I know how much they struggle for admin across the whole city and I have no doubt at all that at some point I'd be asked to go elsewhere.

Anyway, I have applied and been offered an interview, which I've accepted. The team lead is pretty certain that it's a done deal and I will get it.
If they offer it to me I shall accept BUT it's not the only thing I have applied for and will be applying for.
I'm likely to be offered the floating job before any of the others as the interview is soon.

If I accept but then get an offer from somewhere else that I'd prefer then what do I do ? Do I just withdrawn my acceptance of the floating one ??
I'd feel quite bad doing that but I need to do what's best for me.

Never been in this position before so I'm not sure what the etiquette is.

Tough one, but you have to look after your own interests.

If you wont damage your reputation too much, accept and withdraw is better than stay in a job that's wrong.

Do you have to accept it, how confident are you of getting something else?
