Interview - in over my head!

I’ve got an interview for a job in a nursery. I REALLY want it. However I’ve not worked in a nursery before and have to prepare an activity for a group of preschool children before my interview. I have worked with children but not preschool age in the past 5 years and I’m panicking I’m getting in over my head! I am going to read up on EYFS over the weekend and prepare the activity but I’m seriously scared I’m going to make a fool of myself. I was so shocked to get an interview, I literally took an online questionnaire on the company’s website and they contacted me the following morning but they have not seen my cv yet. I’ve worked in reception classes but that was 5 years ago so so much has changed. What if they assume I’m an up to date EYFS professional? I put honest answers on the questionnaire but I’m seriously doubting myself! Any words of wisdom?? Please?? Xx

Did they specify if they wanted someone qualified or not? What qualifications do you have?
Have you any ideas for an activity? Story sacks are a good one for interview, you can easily adapt to the levels of interest the children are showing and their age/abilities.

And I guess that working with children you have a good grasp of safeguarding and prevent, because these will always come up.at interview.
What is the actual job?

Thankyou for your reply. The actual job is as a practitioner. No levels required. I have a level 3 in supporting teaching and learning in schools but no child care qualifications. Yes I have done my safeguarding. I have been working at a special needs school for a year but with middle school aged children then was a ta at a mainstream school for 4 years previously to that (which as I say was a few back) I thought I would go with play dough and base it round their current theme which I have asked what it is. Then I can do lots of different things such as fine motor skills etc and it gives me a chance to interact with t he children quite a bit. Thanks again for your input xx

You sound like you know what you are doing, no need to get worried. Just check that there are no children with glueten allergies if you are making the playdough with flour. Good luck
