anything else the nursery needs to know?

ds is starting nursery on monday and i'm really nervous about it. i wont be easily contactable during the day so i'm trying to think of anything the nursery might need to know, going to write it down so i remember it all when i drop him off.

he hasn't got a routine to tell them about but have written down the times he usually feeds and which of those feeds i will be able to do and which he will need EBM for.

also made a note of his usual nap times

What else do they need to know?

anything that especially soothes him if he is upset?

other emergency contact numbers (which I am sure you have already provided.....)

beansmum · 02/10/2004 21:09

I can't really think of anyone they could contact in an emergency, there isn't anyone nearby. I have given them my timetable though so in an emergency someone could be sent to get me out of a lecture.

somebody give me some more ideas please! really worried about this and want to be sure that they know anything they might need. actually think i might get some kind of box and just take bean to my lectures with me. one of those carriers you get for cats could be adapted!

p.s dont worry he will be fine mine was she only started last week and i was worried like you xxxxxx

I don't think there's anything else to be honest unless he has particular preferences for sleeping- in a darkened room or whatever. It seems such a huge thing, but he will be fine, honest Can you ring them to check how he's doing in between lectures? You'll feel so much better in a couple of days, really.

tamum · 02/10/2004 21:55

Oh yes, songs that he's used to?

MiriamR · 02/10/2004 22:00

How does he like to be soothed (this ones really important IMO). Re his routine, as well as the 'whens' they also need to know the 'hows' ie , how does he normally go to sleep, ie in a chair, cot etc, rocked to sleep, snuggled in a blanket etc. Stage of development etc.

Presumably, they've already got their standard forms for medication, allergies, GP details etc. HTH

beansmum · 02/10/2004 22:07

ooh hadn't thought of how he likes to be soothed, he never cries so not really sure what would work.

this is all really for my benefit, i think bean is too little (17wks) to be bothered much.

anyway, they have my mobile number but there's not much signal in the uni buildings so they probably wont get through. I have the number that goes straight through to the baby room and i'm going to be calling it every hr for the next week!

have given them medical details, anything else?

have you got a medical record book with all his details in it? Leave that for them.

Does he have any preferences for how he likes to be held? Both mine hated being held facing the holder, iyswim, and it's quite suprising how many people (even those with kids) just don't think to try holding a baby facing outwards. They would fuss and coo, walk around, wave toys at them etc etc to no effect - tell them to turn dds round and the wailing would stop instantly
