Disciplinaries

Hi guys, is anyone clued up on how Disciplinaries work?

My partner has worked for a company for over 5 years now.
His boss isn't the best. She is super arrogant and treats her staff like they're poop on the bottom of her shoe.

Anyway.. His boss has previously told all staff that parking is nothing to do with the company. He has previously spoke to someone else from a company next door, and they said they don't mind him parking in their car park, as long as it's not all the time. Now, this would be the second time he has parked in said car park, and someone else from the company has been in to see his boss and, in her words, complained about him.

She is now taking this further and he has a meeting with her about "bringing the company into disrepute" and "parking in a private car park". My question is, what are the chances of him being dismissed? He has had a written warning previously, and she has had a fair few people sacked just recently. I'm super worried as we have 2 children to provide for and also a baby on the way who is due in April.

Thank you x

Hi op sorry your under this stress.

What was the written warning about? What conditions/sanctions were set following the warning (eg an action plan detailing that he will not do x or act in a certain way with examples etc?)
Is the written warning or sanction still "live" meaning has it expired or was it recent such as last 12 months?

If he is still under an active written warning he could loose his job but depends on what that warning was about and what was specified in the outcome

Is there anything in their company handbook about parking? Or anything about parking in this particular place?

Does your partner have written agreement from the other company about it being ok to park there? He might want to get that retrospectively as evidence for his disciplinary.

It would need to state in his invite letter that the outcome could be dismissal. They can't just decide that in the meeting.

Are you sure this is really about him parking on another car park OP?

His written warning has literally just ended. It was for 6 months. So was fairly recent but not about the same thing.

He didn't get written permission. Only verbal. And this was only the second time he parked there. However, the person who complained was a different person to who agreed to allow him to park there the first time. His usual parking space was being used - it is a nightmare to find a space as there's double yellows everywhere.

Yes. It's about parking. I read the letter she gave him this evening.

There is nothing in his handbook or contract about parking their own cars. Only work vans. His boss has verbally told them that parking is nothing to do with them and the company doesn't have to provide them with a parking space. He has spoken to the union, and they have said someone can attend the meeting with him if he likes.

I have told him he should have been more careful when parking, but I just feel like she's making a mountain out of a molehill here and worrying he may lose his job over something that, in my opinion, is ridiculous. X
