Is anyone on here a funeral arranger?
I’d just like to ask a couple questions before applying for the job

Ask away

What exactly do you do on a daily basis? Do you enjoy it? What time do you start/finish? Do you feel you’ll be able to progress your career?

Bear in mind that working for one of the big groups (coop /dignity etc) will be very different to working for an independent. I'll assume you're applying to a chain/group.
Most places have funeral administrators who arrange the funeral, and then funeral directors who go out on ther actual day.
You will likely be responsible for meeting with families and discussing their requirements, completing the necessary forms, giving them prices. Also booking venues, cars, catering and flowers.
You may be required to show families into the chapel of rest for viewings
It will probably be a 9-5 job.
I work for an independent and my role is much more wide reaching, including caring for the deceased etc, and definitely longer/ more unsociable hours. I do really enjoy it, although it can be very hard at times, it's good to know that you're helping people when they need it.

Re progressing, it's not something I'm looking to do, but you could go on to manage branches / become a funeral director.

@sorryiasked yes it’s coop I’m looking at applying. I’ve wanted to for a while. I’d love to work for an independent one but never see any jobs available. I’d love to have your job and care for the deceased aswell. Don’t know why but that’s defo a job that interests me

I'm a funeral arranger for an independent firm, I started out in the head office arranging every detail of the funeral. 9-5 are my standard working hours including some weekend work every now and again if we have families wishing to viewing their loved one during those hours. Progression wise i now manage a smaller branch for our company. The job itself requires a lot of dedication, hard work and flexibility. I really enjoy what i do and wouldn't want to do anything else :)
