Flexible work request will be declined - should I quit?

I’m really struggle to manage working full time shifts with young children and studying part time. I want to request a change of hours but during an informal chat with my manager I’ve been told they don’t have the staffing to accommodate reducing my hours.

My husband has said I can hand my notice in because it’s affecting my health - however i feel like I’m letting myself down if I do that!

Back story is i interviewed for a part time role but was told on acceptance that it was full time. I never wanted full time and have tried to stick it out.

Should I try to request the reduced hours anyway or just hand my notice in?

Nothing to lose by asking and putting forward a case for flexible working. Resign upon refusal...least it makes it clear to them why they’ve lost you.
“Mrsdaz sorry we aren’t able to accommodate your flexible working request”
“Understood, I would therefore like to resign. I will work my notice”

....I was refused flexible working, would have loved to resign on the spot to show them but sadly couldn’t afford to lose the job!
