Ward Care Coordinator- am I mad?

Have been offered this job on Bank hours.
SAHM for 10 years, previous admin role.

Am I insane? Did a shadow shift today. Seems a huge amount of experience for a Band 3, needing to know all about medical and community care The support and training aspect also seems limited.

Has anybody else got experience of this role?

Sounds hard but a good foot in the door.

Sounds a lot for a band three. If you enjoyed it is worth it to get some experience. Is it like discharge coordinator?

user68435567 · 21/01/2020 19:37

Yes the objective is similar to a discharge coordinator. As the person I shadowed said it's like 'plate spinning' and I suspect I might just be thrown straight into it.

Give it a go, definitely. It's a good way into the NHS and you may find that you really enjoy it.

It sounds like the role would give you a number of transferable skills that could be very useful in future, if for example you wanted a PA/Office Manager type role.

I would go for it but insist that you have support/supervision and a proper induction.

Sounds good,
you must have had the skills to get the job
more is required of a band 3 than a few years ago.
