Second interview

I have an interview this week for a position I've been interviewed for before (but was pipped to the post). It's an NHS interview (set questions and a panel before). Was told to re apply if they ever advertised again so here I am!

I can see it's the same panel but was wondering if anybody could tell me if it's likely to be the same questions they ask me? It's the same job, same job description and post etc. I can remember most if the questions from last time so could be working on strengthening my replies but if they ask me a completely different set of questions Confused

I don’t work in the NHS but how many types of question could they ask you about your capabilities and suitability for the job? There cannot be an endless list of questions so I would think there could be nuances on the central themes. However if they ask the same questions to all, then the nuances will be follow up questions. Otherwise the other candidates would get “your” questions. Of course questions about your cv and experience will be tailored to what you have said on your cv.

I would know my strengths inside out. Know how they can be applied to the job and express a willingness to learn if I was a bit shaky on something! I think you have an advantage in that you’ve been through the process before but you might find they’ve said “apply again” to every disappointed candidate. Hopefully not. Good luck.

I interview pretty regularly for the same positions and we tend to keep the 'core' questions the same but tweak the odd one or two, both to change or remove any questions which didn't work as well/didn't elicit good answers from the candidates, and also to keep things interesting for us interviewers, as it gets quite tedious listening to the same questions and answers over and over again. So if I were you I would probably prepare for similar but not exactly the same questions, focus on how you can best demonstrate the core competencies/skills/experience for the role and 'sell' your best personal qualities to them. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, last time it was ten or twelve set questions like "tell me a time when you did this/that and what you would do differently next time/how you dealt with it etc etc. Those type of questions. I gather the NHS interviews are all points based and pretty standardised but just wondered if anybody knew for sure whether I'm likely to get the same type of questions in an NHS job.

I've done interviewing myself in the past in the private sector and I'd probably change things about a bit but I think the NHS May be a different kettle of fish maybe.

Same set of questions I mean, not the same type.

Maxelly, do you work in the NHS?

Not at the moment but I was NHS HR for many years... however things do vary massively from one part of the NHS to another or even within the same trust so unfortunately it's not that predictable...

Thank you, had my interview today, the questions were mostly the same but a couple differed to last time. Will find out tomorrow but I didn't feel it went as well as last time so not holding out much hope!
