I left a job after a stressful suspension they wanted me out and even though I dont think it would have gone anywhere I decided to leave before any investigation meeting it's now been six months and I'm interested to know why and what I was suspended for can I request this information?

You can put in a Subject Access Request to see personal data held about you. However as it is 6 months after you left employment, it is likely they will have deleted the kind of in depth stuff you’re looking for, or at least they should have done, as they are not allowed to keep data longer than is strictly necessary. Emails and notes about performance etc shouldn’t really be kept this long.

They need to keep the personal records for six years so they should have everything on file. Do a subject access request with parameters so when you started to When you left, any initials or names and so forth. it is not a freedom of information request.

As someone else said it's a SAR not FOI, and yes they should still have information on you. Find their DP info via their privacy notice and ask them for information on you (though the more specific you can be the more likely you'll get a quicker response, I would limit to HR records or they could have to start searching company wide emails etc).

Absolutely not! They have to keep things like payment records for six years but they should absolutely not be keeping “everything” for anything like that long- that would be a breach of GDPR.

Assuming they issued you with a privacy notice when you were employed, that should tell you exactly what information they retain post-termination, for what reason and for how long. Look at that and consider whether they will have anything helpful to you.
