Hello, I work in NHS HR so have some experience from the other side of the fence. Do you work in acute or community if you don't mind me asking? Are you being redeployed as a result of org. change or for other reasons? In my experience providing the redeployment process is well managed and there is good communication on all sides it can work out really well - people we would otherwise have lost stay with the trust saving expense and hassle, the person stays in employment and often 'issues' in their previous department are resolved just by the change of scenery/team/manager/role... even if the role we can offer is not perfect for the employee, I encourage them to think about taking it as a stepping stone/breathing space to work back towards what they really want, rather than having the pressure of being unemployed.

I think it's important for you to be clear/honest about your needs and requirements and be prepared to push back a bit on HR/management if they try and put you into a role which definitely won't work for you (particularly if it's a different location or different hours), as things get much more messy if you accept a role but then say it's unsuitable. However (and I know it's contradictory) I think you need to be open-minded to a different kind of role and new ways of working etc from your old job. You should be offered a trial period in the new role and if in doubt I would take the opportunity to see what the job is really like before finally accepting or rejecting. You probably also need to be quite proactive about asking for vacancy lists etc. as HR are quite often a bit passive and expect you just to look on NHS Jobs. If there is a particular team or department you want to work for then you could even contact them directly and ask about vacancies, sometimes there are jobs which have been 'frozen' and aren't being actively recruited to but which might be an option for you as a redeployment candidate...

Good luck!

I echo what has been said above. Unfortunately redeployment has been a negative experience for me, six weeks left and there has been none of the promised assistance and, although at risk staff are guaranteed an interview if they match the skill set, in reality this is not the case.
I sincerely hope your experience is far more positive.
