should I be able to see GP in working hours without working time back?

For context - full time workers in my workplace can see their GP during working hours and are not expected to work time back.

However, I work part time only (9:30-14).

My eldest is severely disabled and I cannot get childcare for her. Taking her to the GP is always a big faff and difficult. I cannot talk to the GP as she keeps interrupting the conversation (she has severe learning difficulties among other issues).

Anyhow, I need to see the GP about something rather urgently. Work told me I need to work the time back but I cannot stay longer or start earlier due to caring responsibilities - I cannot just to and hour extra in the evening or start early as I have no support.

Is this right that I have to work GP time back whilst full time workers don't?

I am quite desperate to see the GP but don't know what to do or how to go about it. Should I throw a sickie? I have never done it but consider it now.

In general an employer must treat part time staff the same way as full time staff. If they wish to do differently, as it seems your employer is doing, they must show that there is a genuine business need and they have an objective justification.
