Reconfiguration whilst on maternity leave - help!

Hi

I've posted about this before but wonder if you can help. I am currently eight months into my maternity leave. At about five months I was informed by a friend at work that there was some major reconfiguration going on and I would have to apply for a post. My employer eventually got in touch and confirmed this.

I then had to break into my maternity leave to review all the documentation, attend meetings for an update and make an application for three different posts. This was all complete at the end of August.

I have since found out, via word of mouth again, that the new post I was appointed is in a department that is closing down and being merged into another department which just so happens to be the department I was in prior to the reconfiguration.

I have known about this almost a week but still not received official word from my employer.

To complicate matters further I have applied for flexible working to allow me to return part time and had to complete paperwork and attend another meeting to discuss this. I thought the meeting was to give me an outcome but unfortunately the line manager who approves this had never received the paperwork I had submitted so was unaware of what I was asking for. This meeting took place early August. I have still not been told the outcome of the meeting (which is understandable now but leaves me in a difficult position when considering childcare options).

Is there anything I could or should be doing about this? I feel like it has really impacted on my maternity leave causing me a lot of stress and the communication breakdown has been horrendous.

Just incase anyone catches this later, I've spoken to my Union and they're onto it.
