Questions about childcare during interview

Good morning, I'm new to Mumsnet so first of all Hi everyone! I'm looking for a new job and recently has an interview for a part time admin role in a local office. I was briefly asked about my skills etc and then the rest of the interview was based around my child and my childcare arrangements! Naughty line of questioning I know! I didn't get the job! However, I have another interview tomorrow for a weekend admin role. How do I politely and professionally dodge questions about my child and our childcare arrangements? Any help here would be appreciated, thanks all!

flowery would be better able to advise but when I interviewed people for jobs we were trained not to ask explicit questions about childcare. Unless we would ask men the same questions. You can ask whether candidates can work at short notice ( if relevant).

Persònally I'd respond that obviously I have childcare arrangements in place but I'd also add that I'm surprised in this day and age that they would think it appropriate to ask, and that thanks but no thanks, I'd rather not work for an employer who thinks this is ok.

Can you just not mention that you have any children?
I'd also respond with 'are you asking male candidates these same questions?'
