Hi my doctor has advised I take time off work, however I am TTO and am
Unsure how SSP works, I don’t have my contract to hand as my company took them back as there was a mistake and I can’t remember seeing anything about SSP and sick days? Any help great appreciated x

I'm not sure what it is you're asking exactly? As it's the summer holidays and you only get paid the days you work, not spread over 12 months, then you are not currently either contracted to work or being paid, is that right?

Samcj02 · 20/08/2019 13:46

Yes that’s right but my doctor would like me to take time off when I’m due to return in two weeks! If that makes sense x

I don't understand either

Ok, but what are you asking? When you're due to go to work, forward your doctor's fit note as you usually would, job done.

Sorry, I don't think I'm understanding what your concern is or how you think you being TTO matters? Am I being thick?!

Sorry for the confusion, I wasn’t sure if I’d be entitled to it with the summer holiday and being term Time only?

Sorry someone mentioned to me being term time only can effect my eligibility for SSP I tried to look online but couldn’t find a definitive answer x

You will be entitled to it once you're supposed to be at work, yes. So just make sure you have a valid doctor's note covering the time you're due to work, and forward it to work as normal.

(Obviously you're not supposed to be working anyway at the moment so you won't get SSP for now - is that what you meant?)

"Sorry someone mentioned to me being term time only can effect my eligibility for SSP I tried to look online but couldn’t find a definitive answer"

I think I understand. SSP entitlement is usually based on average earnings for the prior 8 weeks. However where the employee wasn't working those 8 weeks anyway, or some of it, your usual earnings should be used.

Yes that makes perfect sense thank you, I think the confusion was that as I’m off work at the moment and I don’t get paid due to being the holidays I wasn’t sure if i would be entitled. But because I’m technically still employed and I earn the minimum amount for SSP then I’m entitled? X

You will be entitled once you are supposed to be at work, yes. You won’t obviously get it now because you’re not supposed to be working anyway.

Thankyou x
