Hi

I've always wanted to get into nursing ( my ultimate ambition to be a midwife) and feel at a point that I can finally properly look into it!

I'm just not sure where to start? I'm in my late 30's, my background has predominantly been in childcare and I have a level 2 childcare qualification. I have however taken a huge break (10 years) to care for my children. In recent years I've been working and volunteering with a charity - again predominantly based around being with children.

My GCSE's were back in the mid nineties and I didn't do that well (D's and E's). I also did an access to nursing course back in 2006 but this was only valid for 3 years.

Can anyone advise how to get into hospital work? Would I be best to look for a HCA job? Voluntary work? Back to college? Would getting better GCSE's be an advantage?

I've got plenty of free time, I just don't know where to begin!

Thanks

An apprenticeship as a hcsw is a great way

I’ve sent you a local job spec
Look at the specifications for qualifications needed
