Feel like I'll never have a job.

I have been a stay at home mom for roughly 5 years. I fell pregnant young with my first, so didn't attend university.

However, I have studied throughout this time, from home. I have a Diphe, good GCSE's and currently studying another home course. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I need a job ASAP.

Problem is, I have no experience. I've looked at care work, but I don't drive so that is quite difficult. I've looked at admin work, as I know I would enjoy this, but no experience. I've even looked at transcription work from home. I really enjoy this; I love English and I love writing. Though I can't see how I can earn enough to support us, since I have no experience.

I really want to work, I want to feel like I'm doing something. I want to feel like I can progress. I love my children dearly, but it does get very monotonous.

Thread is longer than I anticipated, but I suppose I'm just wondering if anyone can help with any advice to get out there and develop a career?

What I would suggest is sign up to an agency and try some temping work to get some experience. Good luck Flowers- or even try a temp Christmas job...it will all add to your CV.

Well 100% of job holders at one point in their lives had no experience.

You just need to try and get your foot in the door somewhere, blag up what you know about the job and hope someone gives you a break.

It is really hard, I have experience but no English (being a foreigner who always have language problem).

I have a useful degree but spent my first year working in coop monday- fri and fast food at weekends (took orders on phone), then I was a reception/customer services through my ex's work place then took me years before I actually do something related to my degree.

After 9 years of career break, I am back to square one!

Have you looked for long? Is there supermakerts, fast food near you? Even working in a supermarket can earn you customer services skills and money at the same time.

It's really hard, just keep looking, most of us do find something eventually, honestly!

Good luck!

I have been looking on and off for the last few years. But, I need one now, as soon as possible. Thank you everyone for your advice and I will take it in board. I haven't been picky with my search, I understand I will need to work my way up. Its just a struggle finding work which will allow me to do drops offs and then get to work on time. My partner can pick up, so that's not so much an issue. Nor can I drive, so that impacts a lot too.

I know I will find something eventually, it's just disheartening I suppose. I'm doing a little bit from home at the moment, but it doesn't pay very well, nowhere near enough for childcare costs especially since I can't put the hours in when I have the children all day.

The important thing is to stay positive and just hope that something will come up soon. Thanks again, everyone.
