Is this flattering or bullying?

I’ve posted before about an amazing job offer I’ve had which meant I’d leave my current employer after a considerable period of employment.

I have also had a MAJOR operation for which I am still off sick.

I handed in my resignation and gave my required months notice. Whilst off sick, with the intention of not returning to my current and long-term employer.

Since I handed in my letter, I have been constantly contacted by my immediate boss, HR Director and MD, asking me to reconsider my resignation and please please not leave.

My MD thinks I am making a rash decision and is blaming my post-op hormone explosion for my rash decision.

So far, I’ve had two visits at home and the MD wants to visit again. Probably to try and persuade me again.

I truly never expected this reaction to my resignation. I’m flattered that my company still want me to work for them. I am also aware that they are acting in their own selfish interest as my job is specialised and I retain a lot of valuable information. But I am also feeling slightly intimidated and pressured by them.

Whilst I have no intention of staying with my current employer, I don’t want to burn bridges with them and leave under a cloud. I feel so torn. I want to be left alone and for them to respect and accept my decision.

Any advice?

If you've handed in your notice and you don't intend to return to the job due to recuperation from a major operation, they need to accept that situation.

Presumably you are covered by a Fitnote, in which case they will know that's legally binding, as is your right to resign from your employment contract, and for them to honour your choice. End of.
