What would YOU do? So upset about work

I'm really hoping for some advice!

I'm starting a college course in September (3 days a week), but I do not get the days it'll be on until 22nd August. I do know for certain one of those days will be a Monday, which is great because I don't work Monday. They'll definitely be week days though. And previous years on the course have always done Monday, Thursday and Friday. I work on Thursday, Friday and Saturday....

I absolutely adore my current job and work with people who are doing the profession I'm aiming to do. Everyone is so supportive, funny and lovely. I'm gutted I'm probably going to have to leave.

How do I tell my manager this? I feel so horrible. I only got the job in April. Me leaving would be quite disruptive in terms of staffing.

What would you do/say? Am I being a cheeky fucker leaving so soon after getting the job? I don't want to but I can't be at my current job if I can't go the my college course Sad

I would be looking at going to Uni in September 2020 so I would've always had to leave soon(ish).

I suppose it would be lovely if my manager kept me on for the Saturday since that'll definitely be the hardest to get someone to work. However, it would've be up to her. We're a charity so the likelihood is it'll be up to Head Office/HR.

I'm sure they'll be supportive of someone who wants to gain qualifications in the work they are doing. A good employer and team will encourage you to do what's best for your career.
And all employers know that staff leaving is part of the real world.
Any chance you could ask to reduce your days to 2 - Monday and Saturday? And potentially pick up shifts during college hols if they need you to?

Gaz Well this is the thing, I'd be at college on a Monday. Plus they have all the staff they need for Monday.

Nobody who does my job within the team would be willing to swap, I don't think. They all have other commitments too, and need it to work around their own DC.

I also have a DC so not sure how I would work around picking up extra days out of the ordinary since I wouldn't have the childcare in place.

I'd be more than happy to do the Saturday though... And any other days that I'm not at college that'll be permanent so I can arrange the childcare

I'd tell them I was waiting on course dates and see if they could still use me on the days I wasn't at college. If not, get other work on those days.
