Would you refuse to put your current wage on an application form?

Just that really. In my profession, wage isn't really indicative of experience or quals. Do employers just ask so that they can pay you the lowest amount?

I don't tend to put it on. I've never been asked about it when I haven't.

I don't put it and I've never seen a reference ask for it either.

If asked I'd fudge with a more 'my salary expectations are x to x' type answer... you can usually find out the salary range on offer for the job so go in high if you think your experience warrants it.

I usually put market rate when asked for current salary or desired salary. It's none of their business what you are earning now and will put them off, either because you are too cheap or because you are too expensive!
