Hello, I'm very new here and I'm panic writing so forgive me if this doesnt come across as straight as I mean it too.
I have just recieved a pay slip (through the post) with a 422T 0 tax code.. apparently this means I do not get the £12,500 personal allowance that is common for people in my position.
I work in the care sector as a bank worker (it would be easier to Google what it means)
I plan to call them in the morning but I've just opened this letter and thanks to being a massive over thinker I need to understand this sooner rather than later.
From what I can make out it's either a wrong tax code or being a bank worker they cant tell what my annual income will be so they tax it all and send me a cheque at the start of the new tax year?! But that can't be right surely?! I receive universal credit but surely they cant reduce payments on that then tax £800 or so a month?! (My income is often around £600-£800)
Sorry again and thank you if you understand this lol!!!
