Is there any salavging DH being able to do his interview?

DH was due to have a job interview today for a promotion at work, for a job he desperately wanted and spent hours on the application form on. Unfortunately on Sat he had a medical emergency (ended up in hospital on IV morphine etc) and has been signed off sick. He hasn't been able to attend the interview today, although of course the others candidates have had their interviews. DH's manager who was interviewing the candidates (who he has a good rapport with, and I think was very supportive in him going for the promotion) said he will speak to HR to see if there is anything they can do so that DH doesn't miss the opportunity to interview due to acute illness, but at the moment I'm not seeing any way around it as they can't expect the other candidates to wait for potentially another couple of weeks until he is fit enough to interview. I'm gutted for DH as he is so disappointed. Is there anything we can do?

I’ve been expected to wait a couple of weeks after an interview for someone who couldn’t make that date to be interviewed. I assume it was a similar reason, as it was only announced on the actual interview date. So, it is possible and I hope they manage to work something out and that your DH recovers well.

Agreed - under the circumstances I would expect them to delay things for a fortnight. I hope he's feeling better soon.

Just had to wait 3 weeks for someone to come back off holiday then deal with a bereavement before people were interviewed.

Oh those responses are encouraging thanks. It's up to HR apparently on whether they ask the other candidates to wait for a answer, or whether they just turn around and tell DH he has missed the boat, so will cross fingers.

In DH's words, if he interviews and doesn't get the job then fair enough, but he is gutted he might not even get the chance to try.

”they can't expect the other candidates to wait for potentially another couple of weeks until he is fit enough to interview.”

Of course they can, and if the interviewing manager wants to wait, I would expect that to happen. It’s two weeks not two months!
