Career change CV

Hi all
I’m posting here for some helpful advice and tips really.

Long story short I have been working in Hairdressing for 16+ years now. It was great starting off and I loved it while I was younger but after a few years and a few kids I have realised it just isn’t working for me anymore and I would rather stick to doing it privately rather than as a job I go to everyday.

I have been applying for different jobs for the past year and more seriously in the past 6 months. Jobs mainly involving admin and or reception / front of house and I have had no replies. Nothing what so ever.
I have rewritten my CV no less than 15 times (I swear - no lie as I really want a change) and have had no responses. I feel I can do the jobs I’m applying for however my CV obviously has hairdressing experience since I was 16.

Are there any tips from someone who has successfully changed career and what kind of thins can I put on my CV to show I’m serious and smart enough to be considered for another role.

I have 3 GCSE’s and I have already added my previous experience with dealing with customers and clients, ability to problem solve, confident with technology and strong MS skills, professional telephone manner, taking payments and creating invoices...ETC.

I would really appreciate any help. I feel at my wits end and I’m starting to feel really down about this.

Thanks

Have you tried registering with an employment agency? They will rewrite your experience for your CV and sell your skills to the potential employer. Unfortunately, i think it is common practice for employers not to reply, i am finding that myself at the moment. Bad manners!!

Has someone, with a good level of English, read your CV/application letter to check it is Ok?

Your lack of formal education will be a red-flag to many employers who can easily fill a role with people with better basic education, so will pass you over immediately if you have English errors in what you are sending out.

Happy to help if you message me.
