WWYD - Job decision dilemma

I am in the very fortunate position to have been offered another job whilst currently employed.

I have been with my current employer for a very long time and have the perfect work/life balance. The only trouble is that I am bored stiff and tired of the company.

My new job offer is doing the same job but in a completely different industry. It is closer to home, but is actually working 1/3 more hours each week. The pay offered is a lot more, but not actually enough to cover the extra 1/3 working hours a week.

I really want to leave my job and find "challenges" elsewhere. But I am also very aware that in my new job, I will be out of the house 5 days a week, 8am to 6pm. Something I have not done for a long long time.

The extra money isn't "needed" but would be welcomed. My family are on board with whatever I want to do. But do I really want to upset my work/life balance, with all the challenges it would bring, for what essentially is a pay cut?

WWYD wise Mumsnetters?

What are the future prospects like is a question I would ask myself. Is there room for advancement / promotion later on for you?

I'd also find out what their pay rises are like and how quickly your salary would rise.

Do they do any form of flexible working for your role i.e. one day working form home per week?

Depends on how flexible the new job is, especially if you have kids. The current one might be a bit dull but you know where you are!

My new employers pride themselves on being a family orientated organisation, so I would hope they would be flexible when it comes to issues with children.

My new role is very "niche" and is the same as my old role in that I would be the only one doing the job in the organisation. So there would be no career progression. Pay-rises are annually in line with inflation.

I am so so torn about this.
