Just needing some advice on tax credits! I currently receive working tax credits, i work 16 hours a week. Ive been asked to work overtime in June and some of July taking me to around 20 hours a week. Do i need to notify HMRC? Needing a heads up before i spend half my morning trying to get through! Thanks

Will it make much difference? As tax credits work over the year you are probably best working out what it will be on a year basis and updating online.

Ive never gone by the rule of £2500 lower or higher. As i have updated by a few hundreds of pounds and my award is always amended to 'prevent' and overpayment. I say prevent loosely though as somehow even when updating them as changes happen and my award being reduced, I still end up with an overpayment

@SpideyMom it wont make a huge amount of difference i don't think! Its just a few weeks overtime! Just trying to avoid an overpayment!

@rasberrynipple best advice would be to work out how the extra hours will affect your annual salary and update that amount. I have updated a £200 Christmas bonus the day I got paid it, and they reduced my tax credits within days to take it into account.
You can wait until next year, and they will most likely reduce next years payments as it goes on last years earnings.

It doesnt sound like it will make too much of a difference over a year though. If it was going forward it obviously would. For example its what 9 or 10 weeks of a little more pay. So work out say 42 weeks at your normal hours, add on 10 weeks at enhanced hours to get a rough idea of what it will be for the year.

Ive always updated and kept a screenshot or a note of the name of the person ive spoken to, so I can always say I have let them know
