Are there any Exam Officers here today? Help needed. Please?

I haven't worked in a year or so. I applied for a job as an exam invigilator in my son's school and am due to start on Tuesday.

Having gone to the training, I don't want to do it! It's more responsibility than I thought and am having dreams about the children looking to me for guidance and I won't know what I'm doing!

Would it be really bad if I explained tomorrow that I just don't feel confident enough? Would an Exam officer have enough people to fill in my gaps?

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

We have chairs at intervals around the room so we can circulate and give our feet a rest too.

Anywhere that says you can’t sit down is talking bs.

I hated one of our invigilators at school who insisted on marching up and down the rows constantly....dear god woman i’m Trying to think! The best part was when my friend was sick on her as she was explaining she couldn’t leave the exam hall....she was going to be sick she needed to leave.

How did it go?

Well... good first day?

First day done. Mine was a language paper so there was a slightly change of pace as we collected up and gave out new papers. The hardest part was being stood up for over two hours. Plus I hadn’t factored in just how boring doing absolutely nothing actually is. But it was okay though one of my legs does ache this morning. Next shift is today in the bigger hall.

It was fine. I'm so glad I didn't duck out of it. Was with a more experienced lady in the morning and then there we were four in the afternoon.

Will be on my own this afternoon though - please don't let anything go wrong!

I got roped into invigilating some internal exams today. Gosh it’s boring! I did think of you 🤣

I had only one candidate for PE this morning, then a full room this afternoon. This included one who arrived in the school wheelchair after a lunchtime fight, and was heading straight to A and E after the exam!

Glad it went well. Well done for overcoming your fear and just doing it! (My mantra used to be "feel the fear and then do it anyway".)
