Is this unfair or am I just taking it personally?

I returned off work from maternity leave last April, I out in a verbal flexible working request for Friday-Monday, they said no.
I put in an official request to work Monday-Thursday and they agreed. Everythings was going well.
Last month we got a new manager.

Background if job - targeted sales in a retail environment open 7 days a week. (busy on Friday-Monday)
New manager does first monthly review and I do not hit targets last month. Have warning that if it's continues next month formal action will be taken.
Ok I understand this but my targets are the same as people who work 5 days pro -rata for my 4 days. This doesn't take into account I work weekdays and they are contracted to every weekend so see more people, hence meet more targets.
Foot fall is 60% higher on a Saturday and Sunday.
Is it unfair that they aren't taking into account that the weekends are busier than the days I work and threatening to end my contract if I don't hit these targets?
When my old manager was here, my targets where adjusted.
What would you do in this situation? I just just said ok this time but didn't want to make a fuss?

Did you tell new manager this? Do you have anything in writing, email, previous target results?

Acidrain · 01/05/2019 19:53

I don't have anything in writing but I have over a years results in my file which he could look at and see?

Yes he knew they where adjusted and he asked me why I didn't think I hit targets this month and o explained that normally the targets where lower as even though it's not an excuse its not as busy.

Ask for another meeting and for your file to be looked at during it, you can then show new manager how it worked before and that’s the reason it isn’t working now.

ChicCroissant · 01/05/2019 20:02

Why didn't you raise this when you were given the target, OP? Have you raised it this month for the target?

Sales people are not usually shy, so it looks rather passive-aggressive to say 'you should have read my file'! I've only temped in a sales environment but they were constantly checking their target and sales so they'd have been all over this instantly!

ChicCroissant · 01/05/2019 20:04

Cross-posted with you there OP - has he altered the target for this month then?

I am reluctant to say check the terms and conditions 'cos I can imagine a company making no allowances for this and I'm wondering if it was the previous manager's initiative.

Acidrain · 01/05/2019 20:05

I didn't know the target had been moved until today.
It's share of business so how much you book Vs days works gives a %. Company standards is 90.
Old manager used 70% for me due to quieter through the week - don't have this in writing just have the old reviews.

OP posts:
Acidrain · 01/05/2019 20:08

And no he hasn't altered it, expects company average and this is what I think is unfair.
I've never requested a meeting at work before and never gave anything in writing except flexible working request.

Darn, I thought this might be the case!

Might have to attack this from a different angle, what happens to his figures if he has someone consistently failing to meet their targets? Can you pitch it as being for his benefit as well, otherwise it's going to look as if the branch has tanked since newbie took over ...

Acidrain · 01/05/2019 20:25

He has transferred from a different branch but changing my target doesn't make a difference to the store target as it's like for like for the year previous.

Ask your manager how your performance tracks against other team members performance on Monday-Thursday. Do they hit 90% on those days?

Are there any other quality measurements that the company tracks?

What happens in other branches/stores where team members only work week days.

Fight your ground but be aware your manager will probably have pressure from above to get you to hit target.

As far as I'm aware, I don't know of any others who work just weekdays, most part timers work Friday - Monday but I will ask.

Are there any other quality measurements that the company tracks?
Yes optional services and customer service via questionnaires.. both of which are within target.

I'm willing to fight my ground but don't want to be seen as difficult etc.

I dont think Made means look specifically at part timers. Look at the performance of the full timers on these days of the week to see how you compare.

Acidrain · 01/05/2019 20:38

Well by the Friday at the end of the week I am 1st or 2nd out of 7 and then drop to 6/7 over weekend.
When I worked the same days after Christmas as everyone else I was 2nd/7.

OP posts:
CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 01/05/2019 20:56

Gather your facts and ask to meet again. It sounds quite straight forward from what you have said here and yes, compare full timers week day achievements.

Acidrain · 02/05/2019 10:34

I have just checked the company policy, it states you have to be at 90% at comparable attendance.
Is working Monday - Thursday classed as comparable attendance to working weekends and 3 weekdays
