I'm on my second month of sick leave from work with stress and anxiety. I have notes from my doctor that sign me off

I have social media accounts - linkedin (where my team are all connections), twitter (where the majority of my posts are work related), facebook (completely private), instagram (private)

I am getting alerts that my manager (a connection) is looking at my linkedin profile, sometimes up to 4 times a day. He never bothered to look before despite being a connection.

My posts on linkedin are all professional, nothing personal nor damaging to the company in any way. All about my job and/or a project I'm working on. promotional stuff. I have not posted anything whilst being off sick although I have 'liked' a few things.

On twitter, I have had a few exchanges with a friend about GOT but these have been outwith normal working hours. I have 'liked' a few tweets related to my job.

I'm really worried about being monitored though and looking like I'm not sick. I don't like this viewing of my profiles. It feels like harrassment.

There is nothing negative whatsoever about my employer, colleagues or manager. No swear words. Nothing offensive in any way. 90% of what I post is work related and I never post any family pictures or pictures of me at a concert or on holiday on non facebook pages (which is completely private, highest level of security settings and I haven't been on holiday or to concerts anyway).

Could I still get into trouble for 'liking' something or sending 2 tweets about GoT whilst of sick?

As I see it, I'm unfit for work, I'm not unfit to talk to people!

Any advice from HR people? I'm scared now. I feel like its additional harassment.

It doesn’t really make sense to be checking linked in to see what you’re up to. The only reason I can think is if they want to see if you’re making updates to your LinkedIn profile to see if you’re using your sick leave time for job seeking? But even that’s a stretch.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with your twitter interactions, but some managers do take issue with things like that and they would liaise with HR if concerned.

I haven't made any updates to my linkedin profile. its exactly the same.

There is no content whatsoever on any of my profiles that they can use against me other than a potential complaint that I am 'tweeting when off sick'. 2 non work tweets in 6 weeks absence about GoT where I tagged my best friend....

Turn your alerts off? Perhaps give social media a break altogether and concentrate on getting well. If you're 'liking' work related stuff while you're off sick, it's a sign that the lines are a bit blurry for you.

which I've now deleted anyway just in case, although I don't think my manager is on twitter.

I don't think it means he has looked multiple times. I think you can be notified a number of times for the same view.

Perhaps it is nothing more than them checking what other contacts you may have in an attempt to boost their contacts.

I don't think you can argue harassment when you've invited connections from work

I also doubt you could get in trouble for Tweeting

however, general rule - always keep work and real life social media separate. Ideally personal stuff should be private.

These worries are likely all part of your anxiety. Things that seem small and insignificant to others become huge and paranoia inducing when you are in the grip of anxiety.
It would probably be better to keep away from social media and take positive action towards getting well.
Have you considered CBT to help you deal with these sort of thoughts? It can be really helpful.
