I’m am 13 weeks pregnant and have a heart shaped womb meaning I am experiencing pain due to the way it’s growing.

I work in a nursery and told my employer very early on that I was pregnant as it’s an active role. Since the beginning of my pregnancy I have suffered with theses pains and explained and apologise to my manger on several occasions that I was not my normal self at work and have obviously slowed down. I am now under investigation due to poor performance and my sicknesses record is being held against me. Pretty much all of my sickness is pregnancy related and I even ended up in hospital due to my condition and had an early scan.

I’m just looking for advice really as I have been very honest with my boss and like I say even apologised. I am currently signed of due to the pains but so anxious about work.

Any advice welcome

Thank you

Call ACAS! Are you in a union? Talk to them in that case, if not I think this charity has worked with MN before: www.maternityaction.org.uk/

I'm not in the UK so don't know the ins and outs, but as far as I know pregnancy-related absences can't be held against you as that would be discriminatory. But talk to people who know.

Sickness due to pregnancy can’t be help against you ... plus it’s all linked somonly counts as one sickness ... pretty sure they can’t touch you x x

Pregnancy related absence cannot be used in support of disciplinary action or dismissal.

Poor performance can, if it’s genuine and not an excuse to discipline you because of your pregnancy, but it seems like one heck of a coincidence that both have arisen at the same time.

Ordinarily a grievance would be the way to go - is that doable?

And remember for pregnancy related dismissals the 2 year rule does not apply (if you have less than 2 years' service).
