1st time

Work for a local company and it was busy with football and being a sunday not many drivers on. So people were looking for times and I couldn't calculate a reasonable time so I asked a colleague. One of the manager's/owners was there as well trying to help as it was that busy. Anyway so he was trying to help me with time estimates and said that (paraphrasing) "I didn't really know anything" (word for word) "It isn't your fault"

I finished my day at work and went home. I took my pets out and accidentally sent a picture of them in the garden to the work chat. This was meant to go a friends group, it had a tag along the lines of "other handsome boys are allowed so here's mine". So i thought it was fine but i checked the chat and it said something along the lines of "this is not appropriate for a work chat" i didn't respond saying anything but did debate it.

Today i went in to collect my wages and i was informed i was let go due to the picture, i tried to explain how it was an accident but i was shrugged off, they also said that i wasn't good at it saying that they showed me what to do many times and i hadn't listened (again paraphrased)
She also said that she'll give me a positive reference if i need it.

So what do i do? I don't have a formal paper contract.

don't think there is anything you can do without a contract and even if you sent that photo by accident, you still sent it and can't really prove it was an accident.

Your OP doesn't make much sense though.

Have you been there for less than two years?

If so, you’re entitled to be paid for a weeks notice (assuming you have been there for over a month).

You’re also entitled to any accrued but untaken holiday pay.

You don’t do anything if you’ve been there for less than 2 years with no contract.

NorthEndGal · 02/04/2019 19:15

How long have you worked there?
Is this the first time they have had issue with your work?

The fact they've offered you a reference is itself a gift! A lot of companies let people go and are not so helpful in volunteering to support their next employment.

Please don't join work-based social media groups, Facebook, WhatsApp. It really isn't worth the risk of posting something by mistake, worrying if it offends, worrying if people say something upsetting etc.

Keep work and private life separate and you can't go wrong.

Nothing you can do. It sounds as if the job might not have been suitable - if she was being sincere when letting you know that you hadn't picked it up as quickly as they needed. Onto the next..
