I thought it would be a good idea if there was a thread for people who didn't go to uni to post their success stories. Are you someone who didn't go to uni and managed to find a job you enjoy? Let us know all about it here.

Has nobody got any success stories to share? I could do with some inspiration.

I'm turning 30 and considering doing a degree along side my job. Most higher pay jobs ask for degree level, I could do what they are asking but believe if it came down to two people with the same capabilities they would pick the one with the degree. I'm in a low paid area of the country so competition for these roles may be higher?

I have a job I love!
I don’t have a degree as such but I do have a degree-level qualification that I studied for while working full time that’s relevant to my role. I did t have the qualification when I got into my career, although it has been helpful for me to earn more and move jobs, but I enjoy my job anyway.

I was 30 years in the electronic field, got made redundant 👍👍👍

Best decision that company ever made

Joined the company I work for now, who sent me back to college to do day release HND Civil Engineering. I was 53 at the time 😳

We can’t get engineers for love nor money 😳

Got my present job 3 years ago. JD stated must have degree.

Applied anyway I.e. nothing to loose and brushed up my CV plus gain interview experience.

Still got the job over other applicants who had degrees as I had what my boss needed I.e. experience 😀

Result in my eyes as I am the eldest in the team but I give the youngsters a run for their money 👍👍👍😀

I don't have a degree. I work part time in an admin capacity currently as it fits with my parenting responsibilities. Prior to this I was earning 40k in a sales role. University wouldn't have suited me, and I couldn't see the benefits of studying for a degree when I didn't have a clear career path. I had a number of friends who studied for "generic" degrees, all of whom have ended up teaching. Not going to uni also meant I could travel extensively yet still be on track age/career-wise with colleagues who did have degrees (we earned the same).

My brothers business partner didn’t go to uni but worked his way up in the IT industry and now earns the big bucks.
My sister in law’s husband started an fire alarm installations company and is now a millionaire

My best friend left school at 16. He's now 55 and an award winning author.

I work in HR. I’ve worked in HR for about 10 years, and got my qualification about 2.5 years ago. Don’t get me wrong it’s not been easy and I have worked my arse off to get to where I am. But I do love my job, and it’s been worth the slog! And on reflection I’ve enjoyes getting here as much as I enjoy what I do now.

Not me, but the woman who taught me everything I know in my current job. She was an apprentice straight from school, then a featured assistant on a magazine and now is a news reporter for a big national (not DM). She is 24.
