Resignation letter

I’m resigning from a job I’ve worked in for ten years but since my first maternity leave, have been treated unfairly since the day I returned. I have a job offer which I’ve accepted and I am not relying on my current line manager for a reference.

My question is, would it be inappropriate to write my real reasons for leaving in my letter of resignation? Feeling undervalued and sidelined from a job I once really enjoyed? Dangerous move or acceptable to be honest?

I'd resign with a very bland letter and ask for an exit interview.

Failing that, do what a friend of mine did and send a very detailed email to the head of the company at 4.55 on her last day!

Brilliant good on her! Haha

I'd keep the resignation to the point. I'd give them feedback separately.

I would never recommend falling into trap of letting rip in an HR exit interview or sending an email, so they have information like that in writing. All it does is reflect badly on you and burns your bridges if you ever need a prompt factual reference from them in future.

You're leaving, you've had the last laugh. Silence is golden.

I wouldn't. You never know when you might encounter people again. It won't change anything in your former workplace. Keep it short and bland.

Thanks all I gritted my teeth and wrote a decent resignation - which my delightful boss barely acknowledged. Can’t wait to leave

Well, you've done the right thing Beansprout. If your manager wasn't supportive before, they won't change now. At least you can start afresh without having to think about what you've left behind. Glad you're sorted with a new job!

Thanks @daisychain01 you’re right
