I’ve been a nurse for 25 years progressed to a band 6 have just completed a further qualification. I have an underlying heath condition which is undercontrol at the moment. But I’m just fed up
With the lack of manager who are nurses support I’d like to give up but any money to back me up and I don’t want to do anymore study. Have been having a look about. Any ideas anyone please

What about something completely different but still nursing like IT or product development. Less shit but you get to use your clinical knowledge

user7896 · 20/02/2019 22:34

Two things I hadn’t thought of
IT I’m not the best at. Product design how would I investigate that ?

Depends if there's an area you have any knowledge on. Like tissue viability or ortho etc then tall to some of the companies. I had interviews for several companies off the back if emailing them about thier products x

I had a health issue and dropped my hours, the RCN have a site called WING which is advice and support for nurses with health issues. What about practice nurse, tracker nurse for g.p. who keep an eye on the elderly, t.v. nurse specialist, lifting and handling advisor.

CarpetDiem · 21/02/2019 19:13

Please don't leave- tell them how you are feeling and see what reasonable adjustments can be made. Are you a district nurse? If so what about a treatment room role?

user7896 · 21/02/2019 20:17

CapertDiem not allowed to work part time in my job !

I left last year after 30 years of Nursing and am doing a different career, it is possible. I am starting a new job soon and will be more or less back to earning what I was as a top band 5. I was fed up of lack of management support, bitchy cliquey staff and being totally underpaid for the difficult decisions we have to make on a daily basis. Also twelve hour shifts and weekends. I'll be tinged with sadness at letting my registration lapse this October in the same month that I qualified 30 years ago but it feels like the right thing to have done.

I agree Babyroobs , lack of management support, bitchy clique staff , can I pm you ?
