Career change - healthcare

Hi there, has anyone got any advice on changing career in to healthcare. We don’t have the time or money for me to do a degree in nursing or similar. Has anyone started a new career in healthcare, as say a healthcare assistant, and managed to progress to a reasonably good level without having a degree in that area? I have up to post grad qualifications in another subject. But that of course doesn’t help. I can’t seem to find anything online that is specific to this.

My DP started as a mental health support worker, it can lead to management roles, he got paid more than me when I was a registered health worker. The guardian have jobs online wednesdays. HCA jobs can offer nvq training, band 4 is management I think.

Thanks for this - it's what I thought. It may be something I'll consider for the future

Hmm, not really too much career progression within the NHS unless you train as an actual nurse (or other HCP).

I have NVQ 3 which is sufficient to find a job as a Community Care Co-Ordinator with a private company. But the hours would be long & my NHS job is more interesting.

If you’re purely in it for the money, healthcare is the last field I would recommend TBH.

Hi!
My job currently pay for me to go to college one night a week to gain the qualification I need for my job. Should qualify in June (fingers crossed)!

Band 4 is management? Confused

Have you looked into becoming a physician’s assistant? If your degree was science, it might be a good possibility
