Company car

We had a pool car in my office and several colleagues have company cars, which are available if the pool car isn't available.
One similar colleague has a car and I don't, and don't get any benefit. Another similar colleague often uses his own car for business reasons.
Another colleague has just been given a company car and we found out that the pool car had been sold. We now have to use the company cars for business use.

Even though it is a pain for them it's a hassle for me, as we now cannot take the car home overnight and go straight there in the morning. We now have to go into work in the morning and pick up a company car, adding an hour onto the journey time. We've been told that we need to organise it with the company car holder and give them plenty of time. I think it also highlights an elite level of colleagues in the office as we need to beg for their car, even though we are the same level as them.

We are expected to work our meetings around their personal needs (ie school runs or commuting home the day before the meeting). Am I right to be annoyed and is there anything that I can do?
Thanks

Why don't you have a company car if others do? Would you like one?

I haven't been offered one. There are only 6 in the office out of 16. I own my own car now, as it was only mentioned as a possible thing for the future.
I haven't got business insurance and I don't really want to use my car for work purposes anyway, because the cost for accidents would be covered by me and not my employer anyway.

What your company have done sounds fairly logical to me - they're paying for company cars which obviously can be used instead of the pool car (your OP says a lot about why you don't like it, nothing about business detriment).

But you don't actually seem to have talked to your manager about this? That sounds like an obvious first step.

After that there seem to be three options:
*Ask for a company car, and if they don't give you one, ask why you're being treated differently
*Use your own, having changed your insurance
*Carry on as you are.
