Logos/branding/corporate identity ........ well it's my nursery actually

I was talking to loopyredangel about logos & I have the following conundrum - can anyone help?

I'm a childminder running a business called "childminding@walnutcorner"

I'm hoping to open a nursery called "nursery@walnutcorner"

My childminding logo is a tree

My Walnut Corner logo is a walnut

The idea is that you would google & get "walnutcorner" with the walnut logo & then choose either childminding (tree logo) or nursery (need a logo) or eventually a nappy service or baby food or childrens parties (each with their own logo but using the walnut as a brand?)

Is this going to work? or should I ditch the tree & brand everything with just the walnut?

I really like the tree & did an enormous mosaic of it to go on the wall of my house

Thanks for reading - sorry to be so anal - any ideas?

I will be providing a certain number depending upon how much they work & extras can be bought if they don't wash that often

katymac - I just took a look at your website. It could be a mite more personal IMO

I completely understand that you have to be a hard-headed businesswoman at the bank, a responsible professional to parents and a cuddly childminder to children. So many hats...

at the nursey i worked at we had simple polo shirts in warm yellow with the logo on the breast,
TBH i think the name is fab but the logo would be a bit strange a walnut you need something people can see without the words and say oh thats Katymac's childminding, nursery iyswim
Also the tree is very popular where i live we had an noahs ark logo, have seen teddies on seasaws etc think you need to do plenty of reseach dont forget to ask the parents for there opinions they are invaluable!

It is something I struggle with

My architect (designing the nursery) came & had lunch with the children & said he'd not seen that side of me before.....& that he was a little concerned

A mum dropped off when I was all dolled up to go out & she said she thought I was a visitor

I don't think the website gets me much business - but how I would change it I don't know

If you want I could email you my brochure

Walnut corner is in an odd position we aren't quite childminding & we aren't quite daycare - hopefully opening the nursery will clarify things a little

katymac - yes, I can understand that the website wouldn't perhaps get you much business.

When I look at website of schools and nurseries (which I do, quite a bit - I'm interested in how they market themselves in different countries/environments), I always like the very personal ones.

Try taking a look at the website of Kent College, Pembury, and their nursery section. Obviously it's a huge school with big means, but I do like the tone.

I can see why you like it

I don't think I could manage anything close to that

Funny we aren't suppoded to put childrn's photos on-line NCMA frowns upon it (apparently)

It costs me £20 everytime I update it - I'm a bit of a techno dork

The website companies that charge for each update make my blood boil!!!
I have my own website and was instructed in how to amend it, by the very nice ecompany I used - they weren't the cheapest for my website but with no charges for updates they will be the cheapest in the long run!
Your website seems a nice simple straightforward one so there is no reason why you can't update it yourself with a bit of instruction!
Just had a look at your website, the tree doens't make one think 'walnuts' straightaway, I was expecting a little cartoon WALNUT not a cartoon tree with a photo of a walnut at the bottom?
Our nursery has a section for 'ofsted' and you can read the whole most recent offsted (oftsted?) report, which is one of the reasons I picked it, as the report was so glowing.
Oh, and it also has a section where you can see a typical day for each of the ages of the children.
