NHS Agenda for change incremental dates

Does anyone understand the new system. I know there are fewer spinal points but it seems you no longer go up an increment annually. I started a band 8 a job last Jan 2018, so this Jan expected a pay rise. When I rang payroll they said it would be Jan 2020. Cannot seem to find an easy to understand explanation online!

Should be Jan 2020 so 2 years.

It’s every 2 years now however it’s not automatic, which is a bit cheeky. You have to pass certain criteria/appraisals.

I think in theory it was never meant to be automatic under previous system but unless line .anager contacts HR and requests withholding an increment it would always just be awarded. I don't have too much of an issue with it being performance rated. Hi
