mostly lifted from the web thanks to Lisa78

Dear Sir
As required by my contract of employment I hereby give you 4 months? notice of my intention to leave my position as XXXX in the XXXX Division (I am due to return from maternity leave on 9th January 2005.

I have decided against returning to work after my maternity leave. This was not an easy decision and took a lot of consideration.

I would like to thank all my colleagues in the XXXXXXXXXXx for having me as part of their team.

Yours sincerely

xxxxx

TIA

Looks pretty good to me, honey.

Looks good to me - although if you know your boss (unsure as to whether you do) dear sir may be too formal?
I appreciate that resignation letters do need to be formal, but I would still rather see dear simon (or whatever his name is).

Bellie · 06/09/2004 10:05

Oohhh - how sexist of me to assume that your boss is a man

MummyToSteven · 06/09/2004 10:08

good point bellie - who should i address it to - the head of personnel, or my manager?

I would address it to your manager - with a copy to the Head of personnel - that way action can start straight away.

MummyToSteven · 06/09/2004 11:34

another stupid question

should I hand write it or print it off then sign it?

I always think that printed 'looks more official' IYKWIM, but as long as it is in writing I am not sure that it makes that much difference.
