Flexible Working Assist - Not an issue as such

Just trying to get my ducks in a row.

My DD is going to secondary in September, which means my flexible arrangements (late in Mondays and Thursdays, half day working from home Wednesdays (hours made after work and lunchtime), won't be needed.

Because of my DD's afterschool commitments which are unlikely to change for September, I'd like to get rid of the late mornings in and actually compress my hours so I don't need to work Wednesday afternoons at all.

My hours are 9-5.30p.m. my question is: if I were to do an
Mondays - 8-6p.m. (1.5 hours extra)
Wednesdays - 8.00-12.30p.m. (1 hour extra); and
Thursdays - 8-6p.m. (1.5 hours extra)

So that's 4 hours in total (although I think I only need 3.75 hours).

Will the Mondays change the way my holiday is counted? I don't want to confuse anyone with the days, and I was thinking if I use the same days I'm using now, it will be easier to understand (and agree to). But if it's suddenly going to be counted in hours and every Monday bank holiday having to be part of my allowance, I may just change the day to Tuesday.

I would expect your holiday to be counted in hours, yes. Otherwise if you take more Wednesdays off than other days, you'd lose out as you'd only get paid for half a day. It's not the Mondays which will cause the requirement to have it calculated in hours, it's the short Wednesdays.

But whether it's done in hours or days doesn't affect the bank holiday issue anyway. If you don't want any of your total holiday allowance to be taken up with bank holidays, you are always better as a part timer to not work Mondays. That way you get the same total allowance, obviously, but fewer bank holidays need to come out of it, giving you a higher proportion to book when you want.

Thanks for that, may leave it as is then.
